I just read this book called "An Open Heart" by the Dalai Lama and here's some cool little snip-its that I really liked: (paraphrased)
Genuine compassion is unconditional and we would do well to devote ourselves to developing this compassion.
A way to tap into our compassion is to think that everyone at one point has been our mother. (This reminds me of my mom. When she says something judgmental about someone she will follow it by saying, "but she is me and I am her and we are one.")
Our highest motivation: to provide all sentient beings with happiness. This is the greatest endeavor for us to engage in...let us help all sentient beings attain real happiness.
I suppose we gotta start with ourselves first huh?
Love to you peeps.
